The Area

It is not completed a journey without any adventurous activities. There are many things to do when travelling becomes your favorite hobby. So let’s check on some interesting things you can do during your stay in the hotel. Some of the main activities are pointed out below with small descriptions which will be an added benefit to your stay with us.

Pahanthudawa Waterfall

Pahanthudawa is another one of Sri Lanka’s distinctive and magnificent waterfalls, located about 2 kilometers from Belihuloya. The rationale for its position and nature, as well as the name of this waterfall, comes from its natural setting. At the bottom of the Panthudawa waterfall, there lies a small yet deep lake that is said to be unfathomable in depth. It has the shape of a lamp’s wick, which adds to its name (Pahana – lamp). As a result, the waterfall is known as Pahanthudawa Falls. The Pahanthudawa waterfall is located in the Samanalawewa Tourist Zone of the Sabaragamuwa Province’s Ratnapura District.

Bambarakanda Waterfall

This is highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. Bambarakanda waterfall is most popular among the tourists and has become one of their famous tourist destinations in Sri Lanka. The location is ideal for photography and picnics. At the base of the falls, there is a natural pool complex where you can bathe before your lunch if you are having a picnic. Hikers can climb to the top of the falls using a trail provided by Bambarakanda. A lovely tiny waterfall and a big lagoon feed the main falls on the peak. The eastern plains’ unobstructed views make for some fantastic photo opportunity. The greatest time to visit Bambarakanda Ella is between the months of March and May, as this is when the water flow is at its highest.

Surathali Ella

Surathali Ella Falls is 60 meters tall, 2 meters broad, and divided into three sections. It takes its name from a film that was filmed in the area. The Kadawath River, which runs down Sabaragamuwa Uva and eventually into the Weli River, originates in the Ellamana mountain range (948m) in Sri Pada Reserve. It is surrounded by a pristine nature refuge. This is a must to watch and have fabulous experience about the nature and its natural designs.

Duvili Ella

It is located in Thanjantenna village, which is about 27km away from Balangoda. The height of the waterfalls is about 40 m (130 ft). The name ‘Duwili’ is derived from the Sinhalese for dust, which describes the spray emanating from the waterfall.

Wangedigala Hike

Wangedigala Mountain is one of Sri Lanka’s most popular hiking destinations. One of the most stunning green mountains in the world, with a variety of peaks. Wangedigala Mountain is located near Kalupahana Area (Black and White Bridge) on the Colombo-Badulla Route. There are a several ways to begin the hike, but the Kalupahana Black and White Bridge route is the easiest and fastest. We’ll have to walk and hike the rest of the way, the scenery is breathtaking and there are plenty of Pines Trees along the way.

Adara Kanda – (Paraviyangala) Hike

This is also known as Lover’s peak which is situated in the Kalupahana mountain range. On a scale of one to ten, the hike to Adara Kanda is about mediocre. It passes through pine groves and streams, displaying the best of Mother Nature in its surrounds. A Buddhist monastery can also be reached by a pathway. The hike includes both uphill climbs and flat landscape strolling. This place will give a superb experience for the hike lovers. On a scale of one to ten, the hike to Adara Kanda is about mediocre. Hawagala Campsite

Hawagala is a beautiful peak located near Belihuloya. Adara Kanda, NonPareil Estate, and Hortain Plains are some of the area’s most well-known sights. Hiking Hawagala provides breathtaking views of the Sabaragamuwa province’s abundant flora. The trek to Hawagala is strenuous, but the view from the peak is well worth the effort. The surrounding rice fields, woodland, mountain, and picturesque waterfall in this location attract both locals and international visitors, making it a tourism hot point in the Sabaragamuwa province.

Nature Trail of Horton Plains

Horton Plains in Sri Lanka is the country’s coldest and windiest area. Montane evergreen forests, grasslands, marshy regions, and aquatic ecosystems are among the ecosystems found there. Horton Plains, at an elevation of 2,100 meters above sea level, covers 3,169 hectares of the island’s highest tableland. Horton Plains was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site on July 30, 2001, due to its huge number of indigenous plant and fauna species. The Horton Plains, its environs, forests, and the adjacent Peak Wilderness make up Sri Lanka’s most important catchment basin for nearly all major rivers. The plains are particularly notable for their scenic beauty and conservation value, as they hold the majority of the country’s wet and montane zones’ habitats and rare flora and animals. The most widespread region of Montane cloud forest on the island can be found on the western slopes. Horton Plains is more than just a naturalist’s paradise.

Samanalawewa Reservoir

This was built across the Walawe River during the 1986-91 and this is one of the largest reservoirs in Sri Lanka. It lies 160 kilometers south-east of Colombo and is an important component of the 120-megawatt Samanalawewa Hydroelectric Project. It is built on the Walawe River, one of Sri Lanka’s major rivers. The project is located in a karst location inside the Sri Lankan Precambrian Highland sequence, which consists of crystalline metamorphic rocks. Folding, faulting, and hydrothermal processes have all occurred in the area. As a result, the project region is geologically challenging.

Kuragala Ancient Buddhist Monastry

Kuragala is a pre-historic archaeological site consisting of an early human settlement during the late Pleistocene period and ruins of ancient Buddhist Cave temple complex, dating back to the 2nd century BC, in Balangoda, Sri Lanka. The temple complex is located on the Balangoda – Kaltota road (B38) approximately 24 km (15 mi) distance from the Balangoda town. Kuragala is considered as the oldest archaeological site found in the Intermediate Zone

Great World’s End Top

After 9 a.m., the only thing you’ll see from World’s End is a spinning white wall. The best time to visit is in the early morning (between 6 and 10 a.m.), before the clouds move in. That’s when you’ll see toy town, tea plantation towns in the valley below, and an unobstructed view of the coast to the south. At World’s End, a magnificent precipice that plunges 880m, the Horton Plains plateau abruptly ends. The trail is 4 kilometers long, however it circles back to Baker’s falls (2 kilometers) before returning to the entrance (another 3.5km). The 9.5-kilometer round trip takes three hours. The view from World’s End is frequently blocked by mist unless you arrive early, especially during the rainy season, which runs from April to September.

Gems and jewelry business is very famous in Sri Lanka. In Sabaragamuva province, Rathnapura city is known to be the gem city which is full of gem business and mining sites. Sri Lanka, as the world’s biggest gem exporter, attracts gem purchasers from all over the world. Every year, the island earns almost half a billion dollars from the export of stones, cut diamonds, and jewelers. One of the most common stone varieties found on the island is sapphire, such as blue sapphire and star sapphire.
